Woman Says Her Neighbor Started Taking Mulch From Her Delivery Pile Before She Could Even Spread It

A woman says she had mulch delivered to her house for a yard project, and before she even had the chance to start spreading it, her neighbor started taking some of it for himself. She said the pile had just been dropped off, it was sitting right there on her property, and there was nothing about it that looked abandoned or free. It was clearly there for a reason. Still, she says that did not stop her neighbor from loading it up and carrying it over to his own yard like it was his to use.

That’s the part that got people so worked up. It wasn’t leftover material sitting around after a project had been finished. It wasn’t a few extra bags left by the curb with a free sign. This was fresh mulch she had ordered and paid for, and she said her neighbor started helping himself before she had even touched it. That kind of thing catches people off guard because it feels so bold. Most people would never think to ask for some, much less just start taking it without saying a word.

Anybody who has done even a small yard project knows mulch is one of those things you usually plan out ahead of time. You figure out how much you need, pick a day, pay for the delivery, and get ready to knock it out before the weather changes or something else gets in the way. So when somebody starts pulling from that pile, it’s not only annoying because of the cost. It also throws off the work you were already trying to get done. Suddenly you’re standing there wondering if you now have enough to finish the beds you had planned to cover.

What made the story feel so relatable is how odd that kind of neighbor behavior is. It’s not loud music or an overgrown lawn. It’s one of those situations where somebody crosses a line in such a casual way that you almost don’t know how to react at first. You look outside, see them taking your stuff, and your brain almost wants to tell you there has to be some explanation. Then you realize there really may not be one. They might just think if it’s outside, it’s available.

A lot of people had strong opinions about what they would have done. Some said they would have walked right outside and stopped it on the spot. Others said that once a neighbor does something like that, you start seeing them differently because now you know they are comfortable putting their hands on something that obviously isn’t theirs. Even if the amount they took wasn’t huge, that’s usually not what sticks with people. It’s the nerve of it more than the mulch itself.
