Our Story

Fix It Homestead was created to help regular families make their house—and land—actually work in real life.
We’re big believers that you don’t need a designer budget or a contractor on speed dial to have a place you’re proud of.

Most of the wins come from small, practical changes: fixing the thing that’s been driving you crazy, laying out the yard so it’s easier to maintain, or finally understanding what that weird noise from the mower means.

Over the years, we’ve made plenty of mistakes on our own property and learned from every single one. Fix It Homestead is where we put those lessons to work so you don’t have to waste time, money, or energy on projects that won’t hold up.

Meet the Founders

Joshua Clark

Joshua grew up working with his hands and never really stopped. He runs equipment, deals with dirt work, and is the one troubleshooting mowers, weed eaters, fences, and driveways. If it involves land, tools, or heavy stuff that can break, he’s probably written about it.
His goal is to explain things the way he would to a neighbor standing in the driveway, not like a textbook.

Abigail Clark

Abigail Clark

Abbie is the voice behind most of the cleaning, organizing, landscaping layout, and “make this space feel better without overspending” pieces.
She cares about houses that are lived-in, a little muddy around the edges, and still welcoming.
A lot of what she shares comes from testing ideas on their own place, seeing what actually holds up, and being honest about what wasn’t worth the effort.

Why You Can Trust Us

Joshua runs equipment, maintains our own land, and has spent years fixing the kind of problems most homeowners hire out.

Abbie writes full-time about home, land, and lifestyle topics and tests projects in our own house and yard before they ever become an article.

We’re not perfect, but we care a lot about getting things right and updating anything that changes.
