Woman Says Her Husband Became Obsessed With Her Boss — Then She Found Out How Far He’d Gone

A woman said her marriage started unraveling after her husband became fixated on her boss, a woman she had once admired so much that she talked about her constantly at home.

According to the Reddit post, the woman had been working at the same company for about a year and a half. She loved the job, the benefits, the shorter workdays, the better pay, and the way her boss treated employees. From the way she described it, the job had made their home life easier because they were no longer scraping by the way they had before.

Her boss was also the owner of the company, and the woman clearly looked up to her. She described her as successful, private, hardworking, and generous with employees. In the beginning, she talked about her boss all the time at home because she was proud to work there.

Her husband listened. At first, he seemed impressed in a normal way. Then he met the boss at a company party, and something shifted.

The woman said her husband started asking about her boss constantly. He followed the company’s social media accounts and paid close attention to every photo where the boss appeared. Since the boss’s personal accounts were private, he allegedly used his wife’s account to look at them. What had started as secondhand admiration through his wife turned into something that felt much more personal.

Then the boss’s own private life became office talk. Her divorce was becoming messy, and her ex-husband had apparently tried to take control of part of the company. The woman said her husband followed every update like it involved him. He became angry on the boss’s behalf and made comments about how no man should leave someone like her.

That bothered his wife, especially because his concern did not sound casual. It sounded emotional.

The breaking point came during a movie night. The woman and her husband saw her boss out with a younger man. Her husband immediately became upset and wanted to go over and say hello. His wife refused because she thought he looked ridiculous and needed to control himself.

When they got home, he started searching social media to figure out who the young man was. Once he discovered the man was the boss’s nephew, he relaxed. To his wife, that reaction said everything. He had not been curious. He had been jealous.

She confronted him and accused him of being in love with her boss. He denied it and tried to calm her down, but one comment made the whole thing worse. He told her it was not like someone like the boss would ever look his way.

That line crushed her. It made her wonder whether he saw the boss as above him and his own wife as the person he had settled for. She had been the one who introduced him to this woman through her own admiration, and now she felt like she had accidentally handed him a fantasy.

Her family and friends told her she was overreacting. She did not agree. She asked for a separation anyway.

For a few weeks, she and her husband tried counseling. At first, he participated. Then he started canceling. He stopped calling and texting. The woman took that as confirmation that something had changed in him, even if everyone else kept telling her she was making too much of it.

Then she saw a social media post from his brother. Her husband had blocked her and several people close to her from seeing his stories, but his brother shared one. In the post, her husband was at a restaurant holding a woman’s hand.

When she commented, her husband called in a panic. He begged her not to “ruin this” for him.

At first, she did not know what he meant. Then she realized the woman in the photo was her boss.

He told her they had matched on Bumble. He claimed he was separated and that since she had asked him to leave, he was technically single. He said the relationship with the boss had been going on for six weeks and was getting serious. But he also admitted the boss did not know the full story. She did not know he already knew who she was, and she did not know he was married to one of her employees.

His biggest concern was not his wife’s pain. It was whether she would tell the boss the truth.

He kept asking her not to scare the boss away. He said he had never been this happy. He promised to give his wife whatever she wanted in the divorce if she stayed quiet.

The woman eventually decided the boss deserved to know. She told her everything — how much she had once admired her, how her husband had become obsessed, how he had followed her online, and how the movie theater incident had made the woman realize something was deeply wrong.

That was when the boss interrupted her.

According to the woman, the boss said that was not how she and the husband met. They had not simply matched on an app. He had been going to her gym for months, maybe even close to a year.

The gym was across the street from the company.

That detail changed the entire situation. The husband had apparently been working out near his wife’s job, near her boss, without telling her. The boss was shocked too. She had believed she was dating a man she met naturally, not someone who had already been following her life through his wife’s job.

After the woman told her, the boss thanked her. The next day, she apologized for what the woman was going through and asked if she needed help.

Then the husband showed up at home.

He had called dozens of times, but the woman had her phone on silent. When she got home, he was there crying, furious, and blaming her for ruining his relationship. He said the boss was scared of him now and that his wife needed to fix it. He wanted her to tell the boss he was not dangerous, not a creep, and not a stalker.

The woman refused. She told him to leave and said from that point forward, he needed to contact her through a lawyer.

Months later, after the divorce was finalized, the woman posted another update. She said she had moved into a small place near work and was trying to rebuild. Her ex had moved to another city, found a new job, and cut off some mutual friends after people learned what had happened.

For a moment, she felt like that chapter had finally closed.

Then a friend sent her a screenshot from her ex-husband’s Instagram. He had blocked her, but the post showed his hand on a woman’s pregnant belly with a caption about loving the baby and the mother.

The woman said the mother was her boss.

She heard around the office that her boss was pregnant and in a long-distance relationship. The realization hit her hard. After everything, after the stalking accusations, the separation, the divorce, and the warning conversation, her ex-husband and her boss had somehow ended up together.

Commenters had a lot to say, and not all of them were on the same page.

Many were furious at the husband, especially after the gym detail came out. To them, claiming he had randomly matched with the boss on a dating app looked a lot different once the wife learned he had been going to the boss’s gym for months. Several commenters said the boss deserved to know the truth because she had been dating him without understanding the full connection.

Others focused on how he treated his wife once he was caught. Instead of apologizing or taking responsibility, he begged her not to ruin his future with another woman. That rubbed people the wrong way because his concern seemed centered entirely on himself.

But the later update also made a lot of commenters skeptical. Some thought the pregnancy twist sounded too dramatic and questioned whether the story had become too neat or too extreme. Others said even if parts felt hard to believe, the earlier posts still raised a real point: when someone hides how they actually met a person and leaves out a major connection, that person has every right to feel deceived.
